Framework for Understanding Ethical Decision Making in Business

In this blog, individual factors moral philosophies and values will be discussed in detail. I have drawen a chart to show you the framework for understanding ethical decision making in business. This model of the decision making process in business contains ethical issue intensity, individual Factors, Organizational factors and opportunity. It is important to mention that this model helps us to understand the factors related to decision making so the model does not represent how to make ethical decisions.

Let's briefly discuss the others factors first then we will describe the individual factors in detail. The first step in ethical decision making is the recognition of issue that various stakeholders of the firm will ultimately evaluate as right or wrong. The ethical Intensity means the importance of an issue in the eyes of the related people. We can definitely say that the more likely people are to percieve an ethical issue as important, the less likely they are to involve in controvertial  or unethical behavior.
